 Hello, my visitor!I want to present me and my site. My name is Victor Kotov, many people know me under the nickname of Goodman. I was born in 1974 and now I live, love, work and create in Novosibirsk. On this page I shall try to tell you history and reasons of creation of my site "PhotoN", and I shall also present some information about hardware and software, which I use while creating it. At the end of all I shall list some Internet resources on similar subject. So, at the moment of occurrence of "PhotoN" there were three sites in my domain already: two fan sites for games of Voronezh company "Burut CT" ("Aspero news" (Russian and English) and "Watchtower on the Ra-river" (Russian only)) and one comic {"Shadow of laugh", Russian only}. Openning of the new site was preceded with purchase of digital camera Mustek GSmart Mini 2, - a simple hi-tech gadget (at the moment of purchase it cost about $70). It nevertheless has allowed to realize my old dream: to grasp and store those wonderful instants which fill our life. I whould be happy to share these "treasures" with other people. Therefore I began to think of creation of a new site where my modest photo works would be submitted. After some reflection and searching in the Internet (commonly in Novosibirsk segment of Internet), I found out, that there are only few sites containing photos of my native and favourite city Novosibirsk. Therefore I came to the decision to make Novosibirsk the central figure of my new site. Besides most of photos will be made in my native city. The process of naming the site was long and hard. Among variants there were: "Novosibirsk gallery", "Novosibirsk Times", etc. I planned this site as bilingual (in Russian and English language), and so it was desirable that the name would sound equally well in both languages. Following true sentence "to take counsel with your pillow", I postponed decision for some time... Fortunately our mind is capable to continue searching for the decision in "automatic" mode and finally find correct decision or forgotten information. The name of the site was born in the same way: PhotoN - Photos of Novosibirsk. Remarkably, this name is identical both in Russian, and English, without losing sounding and value. I liked this harmony and "PhotoN" was approved. While inventing design of this site I actively gathered photographic material. I did several special photo sessions, and I also used any opportunity to make photo (luckily very small size of the camera allowed to carry it without any difficulties). I should beg to be excused by professional photographers: at the moment of creation of the site I just started comprehending this subtle and improbably interesting art and I don't consequently think that my photos are of high class. However I hope, that my internal criteria of beauty and quality with which I measure each photo, will not allow me to publish frank hack-work. In any case if any professional photographer kindly gives me some advices, I shall be glad to follow them. I plan to spend time not only on practice, but also learning more theory. At first site will contain only photos with brief explanatory and date when this picture was made. In the future I intend to add some comments and encyclopedic information. From the beginning it will be made only for some photos, and then for the wholel collection. Preparation and publication of thematic sections will also pass gradually as necessary photographic material is gathered. First of all the following photo-sections will be open: theatres, parks, exhibitions, monuments, sky, graffiti and favourite. Besides in section "Novosibirsk" you can see the brief encyclopedic article telling about the past, the present and the future of my native city.

Used software I processing photos in graphic editor Paint Shop Pro v.7.02 (JascSoftware, http://www.jasc.com). I use the freeware graphic files viewer IrfanView v.3.80 for draft image processing and performance simple operations (Irfan Skiljan, http://www.irfanview.com). For web-design I apply a lot of programs. I use for editing html-files text editor Bred v.2.1.8 (Oleg Bulychev, http://www.astonshell.com/). I apply program GeoHTML v.2.1 (Alexander Samsonov, http://www.fegi.ru/geohtml/index.htm) during preparation of mapped images. I use Macromedia Flash v.5 (http://www.macromedia.com/support/flash) for creation of the flash-version of a site.
